Welcome to the Family

Please join us in welcoming these five individuals to the Upper School Faculty for Fall 2020. We are very excited for them to join the Asheville Christian family and look forward to working with them in the coming year.

Danielle Teague – A familiar face to many of you, Danielle will be teaching Bible part-time. Her Husband, Ryan, teaches in the middle school, and they are planning on starting their daughter Amelia (4) in the coming year. Danielle received her BA in Theater from Florida State University and her Masters of Theology from Liberty University. She was a Bible teacher, student government advisor and Dean of Women at ACA for five years.  She and her family attend Trinity Presbyterian Church.

Julia Wittosch – Julia will be teaching Sophomore level chemistry and yearbook. She recently received her BS from the University of the South at Sewanee this May with a degree in chemistry and many supplemental biology courses. Julia played Lacrosse in college, was a lab grader for the chemistry department, a coach at Thunderbird Lacrosse in Atlanta, and an educator for the Sewanee Multicultural Health Society.  She was also editor of her yearbook for two years in high school at Johnson Ferry Christian Academy.

Sam Vining – He will be teaching US and World History next year. Sam and his wife, Giorgie, recently relocated to the Candler area from Polk County. He graduated from Gardner-Webb University with a BA in history and a minor in professional education.  He is also pursuing his MA in History from the University of Nebraska-Kearney. He is a James Madison Senior Fellow (2018) and was the head JV basketball coach at Polk County High School where he taught world history and AP Human Geography.

Carla Wilson – Carla will be teaching math and AP Chemistry. She and her husband Barry are moving here from outside Tallahassee, Florida. Their three children - Maisie, Molly and Caleb - are students at Duke University Law School, Johns Hopkins, and Florida State University respectively. Carla received her undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering (concentration in mathematics) from the University of Florida and will finish her Masters in Mathematical Sciences (concentration in statistics) in 2021. She comes to us most recently from teaching math and science at Aucilla Christian Academy in Florida.  Before that she led homeschool cohorts which was a second career after working as a chemical engineer. She has actively volunteered as Guardian ad Litem, debate coach, and standardized testing tutor as well.

Taylor Bell – Taylor is another familiar face to many of you as she has been involved with the ACA community, professionally and personally, for a number of years. We are excited to announce that she will be filling the role of Life Counselor at ACA. Taylor and her husband, Austin, have two boys that attend ACA – William (10) and Colin (5). Her undergraduate degree is in Psychology from Covenant College, and her MA degree is in school psychology from Western Carolina.  She has accumulated 30 hours beyond her master’s degree and is a licensed school psychologist, level II. She comes to us, most recently, from Fairview Elementary where she served as the school psychologist and testing counselor.  She has also worked with faculty and students, k-12, in Buncombe County Schools (where she was named lead school psychologist in 2015), Aiken County Public Schools (where she was named leader of the Autism Team in 2010) and Greenville County Schools. She has been a first grade assistant as well as both a soccer and cross country coach at ACA.  She is also a proud alumnus of our school.  Taylor and her family attend Trinity Presbyterian Church.
