Creating Art That Glorifies God
God offers many ways to express the creativity He has given us. The Fine Arts program at Asheville Christian Academy celebrates this in every one of our students.
From the earliest grades, your children explore music and art woven into the classroom curriculum. As they move into Middle and Upper Schools, they are given more opportunity to create and specialize in areas like choral music, instrumental music, theatre, and visual arts.

What We Offer
Lower School Music
Lower School students get to experience music through singing, playing instruments, and physical movement. Fifth grade students have the opportunity to begin learning a concert band instrument. All Lower School students take part in three concerts throughout the school year.
Instrumental Music
Fifth grade exploratory band begins Asheville Christian’s instrumental musicianship and continues through the offering of leveled bands (sixth grade, concert, and symphonic bands).
Choral Music
The choral program helps students further their love of singing. After regular choral instruction during their Lower School years, Middle School students may join the Sixth grade Choir and Seventh & Eighth Grade Choir, both of which place incremental emphasis on music and musicality. Upper School students may join the Upper School Choir and have many opportunities to travel and perform high caliber music. Small ensemble performance opportunities and private voice lessons are available.
Visual Arts
Beginning with weekly classes in Kindergarten and continuing through advanced opportunities in the Upper School, students learn and build on fundamental skills from drawing and painting to creating three dimensional pieces. Art becomes an elective in the Middle School.
Theatre
Middle and Upper School students can choose to take part in musical and drama productions, as well as learn set design, help back stage, play in the pit orchestra, and more.
