Pre-K and Kindergarten at Asheville Christian

A private Christian school where early learners
are set up to reach their full potential

When you look at your child, you don’t just see who they are now — you envision their future. Perhaps you’re thinking about what they’ll look like, what things they’re passionate about, and what dreams they’ll achieve. This is why, as you consider schools, you’re looking for a place that will recognize — and nurture — their God-given potential.

Here at Asheville Christian Academy, that’s what we aim for. As a private Christian school in Asheville, NC, serving pre-K and kindergarten families, we invite you to learn more about how your child can thrive in our programs.

Learning Environment

A Christ-centered atmosphere where young minds and hearts are nurtured

As a parent, there are some things that you deeply value when you think about schools. First, you want a place where your child will be safe. You’re looking for teachers who will truly know your child and prepare them academically. And most importantly, you want your child’s heart to be cultivated in God’s truth — even at a tender age.

At Asheville Christian Academy, you’ll gain peace of mind knowing that our environment prioritizes safety, spiritual growth, and a multisensory approach to learning.

    Spiritual Growth

Our love for Jesus Christ fuels every part of ACA’s learning environment. At our school, pre-K students and kindergartners are exposed to biblical truths throughout the day.

    • Morning devotions and Bible class: Students have daily readings and lessons where they discover more about God and their place in His world.

    • Christ-centered teachers: Our teachers live out Jesus’ love in their day-to-day interactions with students, whether it’s teaching them patience in the playground or sharing blocks during activity time.

    • Positive culture: At ACA, we instill an environment where kindness, respect, and compassion are felt. The youngest students learn to display these values inside and outside the classroom.

    Multisensory Learning

Your child will experience an educational approach that will keep them engaged and foster a deep love of learning. How do we do this?

    • Play-based activities: Students learn foundational concepts in math, language arts, science, and more — in a fun way that engages all the senses (think navigating obstacle courses, fixing puzzles, or creating crafts).

    • Small class sizes: Your child will get to work in groups for some activities. It’s a chance to learn collaboration and socializing with others. Plus, teachers take the time to get to know each child, so they’ll know how to connect their interests and motivation to learning.

    • Movement: Early school years should be more than just sitting in a classroom. We incorporate a lot of movement in our students’ schedules, such as during recess or learning center time.

    Physical and Emotional Safety

In pre-K and kindergarten, young children need to know that they're safe, loved, and appreciated for who they are. This is why we prioritize physical and emotional safety at ACA.

    • A school resource officer is available on campus to ensure the safety of students (even welcoming kids with friendly fist bumps in the mornings).

    • Security measures are in place, such as visitor check-ins, locked doors, and fenced playgrounds. In addition, we implement regular fire and hazard drills, and teachers have regular training on security.

    • ACA integrates a Christ-centered culture where everyone practices respect, kindness, and compassion toward one another.

Distinctives

Discover the Asheville Christian Academy difference

At ACA, we prepare students from pre-K to 12th grade for a purpose. This is why we’ve intentionally designed a pre-K and kindergarten academic program that sets students up for success while they learn Christian values inside and outside the classroom.

Foundational Core Subjects

Core subjects such as Bible, math, language arts, science, history, and geography are all taught using an intentional curriculum (e.g., Orton-Gillingham approach, Deep Roots, Sadlier). This is blended with a multisensory approach — using visuals, movement, auditory materials, and more — so that students will stay engaged and develop a fascination for learning.

Enriching Specials

Your child will engage in special classes, such as music, library, and P.E., where they can grow in their talents. Whether they enjoy playing an instrument, love reading books, or become excited at the thought of catching a ball, we have something for your little one to discover. In addition, kindergartners also have art classes to get their creative juices flowing.

Connected Community

Although we encourage lots of movement activities for our young learners, we strive to always keep our learning spaces safe. Our playgrounds are age-appropriate, with separate equipment for pre-K and kindergartners, and classrooms have suitable facilities as well.

Intentional Technology Use

At ACA, pre-K and kindergarten students are only exposed to technology as a needed resource. For example, teachers may use interactive whiteboards to share an instructional activity to engage students in the learning process or a dance and music video to follow.

Teaching Experience: 20+ years experience teaching Pre-K and Kindergarten

“What I love most about teaching Pre-K at ACA is the opportunity to integrate faith into every aspect of the learning experience. It’s incredibly fulfilling to witness young children grow spiritually alongside their academic development. Through storytelling, songs, and daily activities, I can nurture their understanding of Christian values like love, kindness, and compassion, creating a supportive and uplifting environment where they feel valued and loved. Teaching at ACA allows me to sow seeds of faith and cultivate hearts filled with grace and joy, shaping not just their minds, but their spirits as well.”

Degree: BS in Elementary Education from Montreat College

Teaching Experience: This will begin my 3rd year teaching.

“Being a teacher has impacted my life in so many ways and I am very thankful that the Lord called me to this profession. I love my students dearly and am always striving to grow professionally so I can lead my students well. Teachers are called “lifelong learners” for a reason and I so enjoy learning more about this field as I serve the sweet students the Lord has placed in my care.

While I love so many things about teaching, my favorite part would have to be building relationships with my students. My love for helping children learn and grow was what led me to pursue a career in education and that love has only grown as I’ve spent the past two years in the classroom!”
