Middle School at Asheville Christian
Discover our private Christian middle school where students become independent learners and servant leaders
Grade 6 to Grade 8
As a parent, what do you remember most about middle school? Perhaps, it’s the roller coaster of emotions. The physical changes. Or, maybe, it’s the desire to be ‘out in the world’ but still wanting to savor every little bit of that childhood. More likely than not, your child will experience these things, too — and you know they need all the support they can get.
At Asheville Christian Academy, we’re here to partner with parents to raise children who will become independent learners in light of God’s Word. We invite you to discover what our private Christian middle school offers and how your child can thrive here.
School Culture
A Christ-centered environment where students grow in character
To you, middle school isn’t just a phase to be dealt with until high school arrives. As a parent, you recognize the importance of this stage — it’s an opportunity to build your child’s mind, heart, and spirit in a place that reinforces the values you teach at home.eps.
At ACA, we strive for the same things. It’s our desire for every student to flourish in every way, and this is why we’re very intentional about our school culture.
-
Spiritual Development
Your child will experience a school that integrates God’s Word in all parts of learning and culture. Students are immersed in three years of Bible classes in middle school, and all lessons are taught and lived out from a spiritual lens. Whether it’s understanding that God established order in creation, as seen in the ever-consistent scientific laws, or how the Scripture inspired the European Renaissance, students enjoy learning through a gospel-centered worldview.
In addition, middle schoolers engage in Spiritual Emphasis Week once a year, where they pray together and share faith-filled insights with each other.
-
Connected Community
Here at ACA, we encourage students to grow in their gifts while being part of our community. We always tell parents that their children will flourish if they take opportunities to participate in extracurriculars, such as our athletic teams, theatre club, or student government.
Middle schoolers have plenty of ways to stay active in our school community, where they can build friendships, develop their skills, and learn valuable life lessons that they can carry to high school and beyond.
-
Caring Culture
We emphasize an atmosphere of physical and emotional safety. Aside from modern security measures, we implement anti-bullying policies and appropriate disciplinary approaches, as well as address concerns within the classroom, guided by the Matthew 18 principle (communicating their thoughts in a respectful manner to people involved).
At ACA, students feel safe, seen, and heard. Habitudes are also part of our curriculum, teaching middle schoolers what it means to show respect, responsibility, and resilience in their daily lives.
-
Genuine Mentorship
We offer small group Bible studies where teachers offer Christ-centered wisdom about relevant issues for middle schoolers. Topics such as peer pressure, godly confidence, or body appreciation are some topics that resonate with our students.
Beyond the classroom, teachers also provide support — students can share their thoughts and receive sound advice during homeroom and other non-academic times.

What sets our academic program apart? At ACA, we prioritize a sensory-rich experience for all students. Our goal is to extend a sense of wonder and love of learning even to middle schoolers through our challenging and multisensory curriculum.
Academic Readiness
All of our middle school teachers are trained using a multisensory approach, which involves implementing the components of a vibrant learning experience (sight, hearing, touch, and movement).
In this way, students participate in various dynamic classroom activities, whether touching a model artifact, hearing an audio excerpt, or observing plants through a microscope.
Critical Life Skills
We encourage students to strive for academic excellence by teaching them to become independent learners.
There is a strong focus on inviting students to take charge in discussions, small group projects, and other class activities so they can develop life skills such as leadership, problem-solving, communication, and critical thinking.

“Middle school can be challenging as it is full of transitions from elementary to high school. The teachers at ACA have been accommodating in helping our children by teaching them valuable life skills for years to come. The Arts program at ACA has been a wonderful community for our son to participate in for many reasons. The acceptance of all levels of school working together for one common goal is a beautiful description of the Gospel at work. The opportunity to perform at such a vast level has given our son a life-changing confidence.”

High School Preparation
Setting the foundation for success
In middle school, we’re not just about helping students succeed in the present — we also want them to plan ahead for their future. Ultimately, the goal is for them to thrive in a college-prep high school.
Setting Goals
Your child will learn to set their own goals by taking Life Skills as an elective. In this class, they’ll learn crucial competencies, such as decision-making and self-awareness, which can help them plan for their future.
Teaching Responsibility
Teachers at ACA provide many opportunities for students to practice independence and responsibility, such as spearheading projects or allowing students to understand (and face) the consequences of their actions.
Getting Involved
Another piece of high school preparation is giving our learners a chance to choose electives that interest them. By sixth grade, students have a handful of options, and their choices increase toward 7th and 8th grade.
Campus Safety
Reinforcing safety for our students and peace of mind for families
Our beautiful 56-acre campus is a 15-25 minute drive for most families, and many of them live in nearby communities, such as Black Mountain, Biltmore Park, and Arden.
To keep our students safe, we prioritize physical security measures, such as locked doors, visitor check-ins, and a school resource officer on campus.
In addition, our middle schoolers have their own lockers to keep their important belongings safe during and outside class hours.
