Middle School EOY Details
Dear Parents,
I hope you are all well as we enter our final week of school. I want to give you some logistics and specifics of our final middle school events. This last week is full of celebrations that are near and dear to ACA families. Some will look very different from in the past, but it is our intention to honor well the students, their families and most importantly, God in these events.
On Thursday, May 21 we will be opening our Awards Ceremonies on the ACA YouTube Channel. These ceremonies will be prerecorded by the teachers and staff. We are also separating the grade level awards into three ceremonies so that you can choose to watch all three or the grade level your child is in. The sixth-grade ceremony will open on YouTube at 1:00 pm followed by the seventh grade at 1:45 pm, and the eighth grade at 2:30 pm.
At these ceremonies we will give Bible Memory and Subject Area Awards. The sixth and seventh grade events will include awarding the Christian Quality Awards and the Good Samaritan Award. These awards, along with the Cutshaw Award, will be given to 8th grade students at the Stepping Up Ceremony, which will take place on campus that evening. If you are unable to view these events as scheduled, they will remain available on YouTube to watch at your convenience.
The Stepping Up Ceremony has been a long-time tradition at ACA. This year it will be on campus in a drive-in format at 6:30 pm on Thursday, May 21. Due to county and state restraints we cannot have large gatherings inside or outside of the school at this time. We also must limit families to one car per family. Students and their families will arrive in their car and be instructed to tune their radios to a certain frequency. As student names are called, they will be able to exit their cars and walk across the stage and be recognized, before returning to their vehicle. Students should dress appropriately for the ceremony. Young ladies should wear a dress or blouse and skirt and young men should wear nice pants and a shirt and tie. No jeans or tennis shoes please. As family cars enter campus, students will have the opportunity to collect their locker items and turn in their laptops, textbooks, library books and athletic uniforms. Please RSVP to Mrs. Susan Watson if you plan to attend the Stepping Up Ceremony so that we can give Facilities an accurate number of vehicles for which to plan (susan.watson@ashevillechristian.org). Below is a map of how 8th grade families should plan to enter campus and park.
Our final event will be School Materials Return on Friday, May 22. Families may come to campus and turn in their school materials as they drive through the campus. Tables will be set up for computers, athletic uniforms, textbooks, and library books. Please click for a CHECK-LIST of items that you should plan on returning. Students will pick up their locker items as well. These items will have been bagged by staff members. The tables will be open for returning materials from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm. Eighth graders may also choose to return items prior to the Stepping Up ceremony on Thursday.
It has been a pleasure to serve your families in the Middle School this year. I am sorry that the year has ended as it has. I miss seeing the students daily and look forward to seeing you all in the Fall. Please join us for these final events. I look forward to seeing you next week.
Sincerely,
Scott Schroder
