+ New Family Orientation

What is New Family Orientation? New Family Orientation is a special time where we welcome our new students and families to school. There is a special welcome in the Auditorium followed by a time for you to meet teachers, set up cubbies or lockers, and get your last-minute questions answered. There is also a time to shop in The Spirit Store, experience a taste of FLIK, our food service provider, and meet Leo the Lion.

When is New Family Orientation? For families starting in the Fall of 2024, New Family Orientation is on Friday, August 16 from 8:30 am - 10:30 am.

Is New Family Orientation Required? New Family Orientation is required for all new families (students and at least one parent). While we are able to work around summer plans, especially if you are moving from out of town, we highly encourage you to mark your calendars and prioritize this event.

+ Teachers and Classes

When will I learn who my child's teacher is? For Lower School, class assignments are announced in August.

How do I sign up for classes in Middle School (grades 6-8)? Middle School students will learn class schedules in August at the New Family Orientation. Classes will be assigned based on prior classes and elective availability.

How do I sign up for classes in Upper School (grades 9-12)? Upper School students will receive an invitation from our College Guidance Office over the summer to schedule a meeting to discuss classes.

+ Lunch, Bus, Extended Care & More

How do I sign my child up for lunches? Our lunch program is managed by Flik Independent School Dining. Details to come.

I would like to use the bus service. What area does that serve and how do I sign up? We have a morning and afternoon bus service that meets in South Asheville. Look for a sign-up link in the July Between the Lions newsletter. More details to come.

I work and am unable to pick my child up at 3:00. Is there an extended care program that I can participate in? We strive to make our schedule accomodating to the working parent. Students may be dropped off no earlier than 7:25 am each morning. Students in PreK-5th grade report to Morning Care (free of charge) until an adult walks them to class.

AfterCare is available for a fee to families who cannot pick up by 3:35 pm. Sign-up details to come.

After School Clubs After School Excel Clubs are another way to keep your child engaged on certain days of the week beyond the 3:00 end of day. Excel clubs are held quarterly. Stay tuned for more details and sign-ups.

Communications Don't ever miss an email communication from the school. Make sure to add @ashevillechristian.org to your safe senders email list.

+ Summer To-Do List

What should I be doing this summer to prepare for the school year?

Shop for uniforms: Check out the CampusWear Details document linked above, and then shop online at Lands' End, online or in person at Read's Uniforms, or at The Spirit Store on campus (check above for summer hours).

Buy School Supplies: You can find our comprehensive school supply lists linked above.

As a service to you, and a fundraiser for the school, you may also choose to purchase a specially curated school supply kit. The second deadline in July will include a shipping charge and be mailed directly to your home.
